• Portfolio Website Tips

    While there are many different ways to author content on this site, this area contains basic information and tips regarding the use of this system for maintaining a Department of Music portfolio website.  The methods described here are not necessarily the only way to publish portfolio pages and content, but rather intended to serve as a starting point to help get your portfolio posted as quickly and easily as possible.

  • Introduction To Audio Technology for Music I

    Semester: 
    Fall

    Music 2055 combines theory and practice using basic tools and processes fundamental to working with acoustics, audio technology, music recording and production.  It is offered during Fall semesters as a three-hour course that meets in the Department of Music Studio from 12:30-13:45 on TTH.  Enrollment is not restricted to music majors, however permission is required.  There are no pre-requisites currently required for this course.

  • Introduction To Audio Technology for Music II

    Semester: 
    Spring

    Music 2056 builds upon Music 2055 with additional concepts and further practical experience in the use of audio technology for recording and production, with a focus on studio facilities and equipment, digital audio, microphone technique and the recording process.  It is offered during Spring semesters as a three-hour course that meets in the Department of Music Studio from 12:30-13:45 on TTH.  Enrollment is not restricted to music majors, however permission is required.  Successful completion of Music 2055 is required for this course.

  • Music and Media Production I

    Semester: 
    Fall

    Music 3055 builds upon the Music 2055-2056 sequence with more detailed study of music recording, production, and delivery techniques through the practical application of common media technologies, critical listening, and evaluation skills.  It is offered during Fall semesters as a three-hour course that meets in the Department of Music Studio from 12:20-13:10 on MWF.  Enrollment is not restricted to music majors, however permission is required.  Successful completion of Music 2056 is a required pre-requisite for this course.

  • Music and Media Production II

    Semester: 
    Spring

    Music 3056 extends the music technology curriculum to refine specific skills in music recording and production, primarily through analyses of the relationships between acoustics, practical microphone techniques,  and recording, production and delivery technologies. It is offered during Spring semesters as a three-hour course that meets in the Department of Music Studio from 12:20-13:10 on MWF.  Enrollment is not restricted to music majors, however permission is required. Successful completion of Music 3055 is required for this course.

  • Music Technology Senior Seminar I

    Semester: 
    Fall

    MUS 4055 is a one-hour course reserved for music technology seniors working on their senior project portfolio.

  • Music Technology Senior Seminar II

    Semester: 
    Spring

    Music 4056 is a one-hour course reserved for music technology seniors working on their senior project portfolio.

  • Independent Study

    Independent studies are variable-credit courses customized to meet specific areas of interest and in greater detail than the regularly-offered courses within our core music technology curriculum.  These are usually three-hour courses that meet individually based on the student's curricular needs and professional goals.  These courses are offered each semester, but are usually only available to music majors working towards a music technology major or minor.
