The first thing to know as a content author is that there are two basic views for this system, the public-facing web pages view and an internal behind-the-scenes Control Panel area.  Once logged in (by using the "Login" button in the footer of each page), you may freely switch between these two views using the Control Panel menu found at the upper-right corner of the page:
